Exciting news from Europe concerning PDOs (Protected Designations of Origin) and PGIs (Protected Geographical Indications). These labels are reaching a turning point, thanks to the new unified European text on quality productions that is being released as we prepare this issue. We know that certainly the consortia for protection will become even more central within the system, endowed with new, highly significant powers for combating devaluing practices, planning production, and promoting IG tourism. 
Moreover, the protection of these prestigious brands, of which Italy is particularly proud (being the absolute leader in Europe), will be strengthened thanks to its invaluable agricultural and viticultural heritage. And finally, farewell to products that would make us smile if they were not a true insult to the originals, such as Prosek, Parmesan, Zottarella, Spagheroni, and Reggianito. 
The last, very important step, concerns consumer protection, for which transparency will be increased. Definitely good news, which we will follow closely.
